If you're reading this blog, you probably already know about The Earring Part 3 finally being out, but my stated intention for this blog was to use it for 'Big, Important Updates', and if this doesn't count as one of those, I don't know what does.
I wasn't expecting Part 3 to take me anywhere near as long as it did, mostly because I wasn't expecting long covid to annihilate my brain and energy levels for as long as it has, but somehow I was able to finish part 3 anyway, even though the entire thing was drawn in a state of constant brain fog and exhaustion. I'm pretty damn happy with how it turned out, considering my circumstances, and I'm relieved to finally be in the home stretch of the project as a whole (The Earring is basically over -- the epilogue will be much, much smaller and easier to make than any of the previous parts.)
Once the epilogue is finished, my initial plan was to sell The Earring on itch as a sort of 'Deluxe Edition', with full-res files, commentary, and maybe a few exclusive bonus drawings or something, but with the whole payment processor situation I don't know if I'll be able to do that anymore. I'd still like to try! We'll see.
The Earring is one of the most ambitious projects I've ever taken on, and I've never felt more insane for posting everything I make for free. I thought setting up shop on itch would be a good first step towards maybe actually making some money from all my hard work. The plan was to have The Earring up on there, along with full-res archives of all my other work. So, naturally, the platform was disemboweled by puritanism and greedy corporations before I got a chance to even try and use it. Unfortunate! Hopefully itch can recover from its wounds at least a little by the time I finish the epilogue -- in spite of everything I still feel like it's the best fit for my work in terms of storefronts.
Anyway, I've also made a few minor site changes over the past several months since the last blog post:
I think that's all okay bye
